As expected, registrations and the landing pages are on HTML, and when user logs in she'll experience the Flex application. This means we integrated the Rails session, and the Flex session, so that Flex knows if a user is already logged in on the Rails app, and vice versa.

The application is meant for designers and architects to store, view, and share their works (CAD, SWF, PSD, PDF, all movie types, all Office types, all image types)

Interesting technologies experienced / developed include:

• Using Cairngorm architecture for the Flex development
• RubyAMF as the communication gateway between Flex and RoR
• Universal thumbnail generator for the file types mentioned above. Interestingly to make a thumbnail out of a CAD file, we need to use a Windows executable and run it on the Linux server that runs the RoR app.
• Integrating with Scribd. Supported files uploaded will also be uploaded to Scribd.
• Using rest-client gem, so that Ajax updater can access a different site
